The Zune Travel Case (for All Models)

Posted by Adam Krebs in "Zune Accessories" @ 08:00 AM

This week we're looking at the ZuneOne Travel Case for Zune 4/8/16/30/80/120 ($12.95 USD). Similar to the official Zune Gear Bag, this case wasn't designed for day-to-day use—you need to take it out in order to access the screen, buttons, etc.—but rather, as a means of transporting your player or players and headphones, sync cable, and screen wipes in a convenient, protected shell. In this regard, the Travel Case succeeds. Though as with most other cases, it won't suit all needs equally. Read more...

Waterfield Releases Zune HD Suede Jacket

Posted by Jason Dunn in "Zune Accessories" @ 05:16 PM

"Keep 'em together. It doesn't get thinner than this! This Ultrasuede slipcase prevents scratches on your Zune HD, and the elasticity of the pocket keeps it flat when empty and stretchy enough to hold your earbuds safely. Low profile slides easily into your shirt or jeans pocket. Perfect fit for your Zune HD. Available with or without the new pocket."

Available with a pocket for $13, or without for $9, this slim case is exactly the kind of thing that I'd use - right now my Zune HD is living in a promotional case sent to me by Microsoft, but I like that this Waterfield case has a pocket for cash and cards. Slick!

Three Zune HD Cases Reviewed

Posted by Jason Dunn in "Zune Accessories" @ 11:00 AM

In this video, I take a look at three Zune HD cases. One from Incipio, The Underground (price unknown right now), and two from DLO: the Jam Jacket Cordsaver ($19.99) and the Action Jacket ($29.99).

Jason Dunn owns and operates Thoughts Media Inc., a company dedicated to creating the best in online communities. He enjoys photography, mobile devices, blogging, digital media content creation/editing, and pretty much all technology. He lives in Calgary, Alberta, Canada with his lovely wife, and his sometimes obedient dog. He wonders if the Zune is ever going to exist outside the USA.

Do you enjoy using new hardware, software and accessories, then sharing your experience with others? Then join us on the Thoughts Media Review Team! We're looking for individuals who find it fun to test new gear and give their honest opinions about the experience. It's a volunteer role with some great perks. Interested? DLO Pumps Out Two New Cases for Zune HD

Posted by Adam Krebs in "Zune Accessories" @ 10:30 PM

In what is hopefully a sign of more accessory makers signing on, DLO has released two new cases for the forthcoming Zune HD player. The Jam Jacket (above, left) is a silicone case with cutouts for the connector ports and home and sleep buttons, and a reinforced rubber back piece for wrapping a headphone cord when it isn't in use. The Action Jacket, on the other hand, is designed to be used while exercising. It is a padded, neoprene case with an adjustable bicep strap and removable belt clip, depending on your preference. It's got a plastic window for using with the touch screen, which in my expericence has never been the best for capacitive screens. You can pick the Jam Jacket up for $19.99 while the Action Jacket sells for $29.99.

The Elite Crystal Case for Zune 80

Posted by Adam Krebs in "Zune Accessories" @ 07:00 AM

Let's take a look at the ZuneOne Elite Crystal Case for the Zune 80 ($9.95 USD), shall we? The first thing you'll notice when you open the box is the the cardboard placeholder image with a mockup of the Zune screen and buttons. Oddly, the album art they chose, Macy Gray's "Big", was the same image used on all of the promotional materials for the first-generation iPhone. But I won't hold it against them. On the other side is the album art for Bitter:Sweet's The Mating Game, which was promoted with the first-generation Zune 30. The case is made out of a hard plastic shell that reminds me of many of the tape cassette boxes from the 90s. Though the plastic appears very sturdy, I can see it easily cracking if left in a back pocket or dropped from a significant height. Out of the gate, I noticed how snugly the case fit around my Zune 80, with a thin lip to snap the top to the bottom half of the case. There are small bumps to protect the back and play/pause buttons but the Zune Pad is left uncovered. This keeps the finish on the buttons but has the downside of making them more difficult to access. Zunerama Looks at New Incipio Cases

Posted by David Tucker in "Zune News" @ 12:30 PM

“I received six cases from Incipio: three each for my Zune 80GB and Zune 8GB/4GB players. Both cases have a clear front shield that protects the screen, and open access to buttons and touch pad. They are feather-light cases - made of very thin anodized aluminum - that add very little weight and almost no bulk to your player.”

Head over to Zunerama to read what Harvey has to say about the new Incipio cases for the Zune. He’s also taken quite a few pictures of them and from the pictures you can see that these cases really are stunning. I’ve always liked metal cases for their protection but never for their looks. I have to amend that here as these cases really are very attractive! After you finish drooling over the pictures Harvey posted up, you can go buy them at Incipio for $29.99 for the Zune 80 or $19.99 for the Zune 4/8.

Three New Zune Cases From Belkin

Posted by David Tucker in "Zune News" @ 07:25 PM

“Belkin has released a range of new cases for the Zune portable media players. Each case is made with a specific use in mind, but all aim to protect the player and its screen while making controls and connections easily accessible. Designed for use during activities (e.g. exercise) is the Sports Armband for the Zune 80GB, it is made of lightweight and stretchable neoprene material with a Velcro closure and is hand-washable. In addition, the armband case features a key pocket as well as reflective material strips for safety at night or in dim lighting conditions. A new water-resistant case is also offered for the 4GB or 8GB version of the Zune.” - Electronista

I really like what I see of the new cases. It’s really just three new cases with a version for both the Zune 4/8 and the Zune 80. I don’t really want to run with my Zune 80 but I would definitely consider a Zune 4 for working out with this armband. I love that it has the key pouch on it since that’s always a pain to deal with. I’ve been looking for a case for my Zune (I want to avoid what I did to my Zune 30 when I scratched the screen while working out) and I may have to pick one of these up to try out!

Agent 18 Zune Cases

Posted by David Tucker in "Zune Accessories" @ 10:00 AM

“The Z-Shield cases for the Zune 30GB and 80GB models are made of frosted clear impact-resistant plastic that easily snap on and off. Each case offers the best protection for product including the screen yet provides access to all connectors and buttons. Agent Zune-Kit for Microsoft’s Zune Flash player (4GB and 8GB) is a soft silicon case that features a rugged diamond design and provides access to all connectors. The cases are bundled with a multi-position neoprene armband and one of the worlds thinnest beltclips (made of stainless-spring steel) for easy transportation while on the go.”

I’m always on the look out for a case for my Zune. Since I have an Originals Zune I often wish there was a case available that wouldn’t hide the artwork on the back while still remaining functional and attractive. A tall order to be sure. Mobile Tech Review posted on their forums that Agent 18 has released cases for all Zune models. A quick glance reveals that the plastic cases they sell may fit the bill of what I’m looking for. The cases sell from $24.95 which seems to be a pretty good value.

Incipio Expading Zune Accessory Offerings

Posted by Aaron Roma in "Zune Accessories" @ 02:30 PM

A newly designated "Designed for Zune" partner, Incipio, has come out swinging with a large selection of Zune cases and accessories. Incipio offers a nice selection of leather, silicon, slip, and sport cases. Their other accessories include an AV Connection Kit, International Travel Charging Kit, and Cleaning Kits. It's nice to see more quality Zune accessories popping up. (Now if we can just add to the Zune lineup too...)

Zune Cases from Memorex

Posted by Aaron Roma in "Zune Accessories" @ 11:59 AM

"Memorex... today announces a series of cases for the Microsoft Zune™ digital media player. An expansion to the Memorex product portfolio, these cases provide added protection for the Zune player, as well as access to all ports, in three distinct designs: the Memorex Silicone Sleeve, Sport Band and Leather Show Case."

Memorex (not the first name I think of for accessories) has released a new line of cases designed for Zune. Their new lineup consists of a silicone case, a leather case, and a sports (arm) band case. Personally, due to Zune’s rugged construction, I’ve not yet felt a need for the extra protection a case provides. But if you are in the market for a case, be sure to give these a look.
