"Atomic" Zune HD Being Auctioned Off On eBay?

Posted by Adam Krebs in "Zune Hardware" @ 10:46 AM

http://cgi.ebay.com/Microsoft-Zune-...id=p3286.c0.m14

It looks like the Atomic Red Zune HD, which was revealed last week through hacked software resources is real, and being sold on eBay. There's not much info on the sales page, like where the seller got the device from (I'd assume it's similar to the v2 "citron" Zune 8, which was a ship gift for the team), but hopefully we'll find out soon enough. I really want to get one in the Atomic color, but with the current bid at $265, and four days left, I'd assume these pictures are the closest I'm going to get.

Black 32 GB Zune HD Out Now Available From Zune Originals

Posted by Adam Krebs in "Zune Buy & Sell" @ 05:18 AM

http://zunestore.net/

Just as it had been predicted, the 32 GB Zune HD is now available in black and platinum, plus the usual green, blue, and red options too. The 16 GB version can now be customized to come in platinum or the three colors but not, oddly, black. No word yet on the other rumored color options, but I'm hoping we start to see a 64 GB variety sooner rather than later.

New Zune HD Colors Revealed Through Hacked Resources

Posted by Adam Krebs in "Zune News" @ 07:30 PM

"The above images are straight from the source files of the Zune Software. You can check yourself using PE Explorer. The above colors are as follows from left to right: Magenta, Pink, Purple, and then Atomic (looks to be orange)"

Hopefully this will put to rest some concerns about the current lineup of Zune HD color options. The Atomic looks particularly cool, and I really hope to see these on shelves sooner rather than later.

Zune HD Comes In More Capcacities / Colors Than We Thought

Posted by Adam Krebs in "Zune Hardware" @ 07:30 AM

http://community.winsupersite.com/b...ng-forward.aspx

One bit of good news from yesterday's otherwise disheartening announcement is that the Zune HD won't be limited to one color per storage capacity. Until this point, the official position had been that the 16 GB version of the player would be available only in black, and the 32 GB version only in platinum, with three different colors available through the Zune Originals series at launch. Not so, says Paul Thurrott. Thurrott now confirms that the one-capacity, one-color restriction was for pre-orders of the device only. Come September 15, you'll be able to order a black 32 GB device and a platinum 16 GB device from the store. But if you're going to wait to pick up the device, you might as well order it from the Zune Originals website, and get a nice etching to go along with it.

New Zune Colours on the Horizon?

Posted by Jason Dunn in "Zune Hardware" @ 10:25 AM

http://www.zuneboards.com/forums/zu...ne-colours.html

Whenever a new version of the Zune software comes out, adventurous individuals engage in what's called "resource file hacking" - they crack open the Zune software files that contain the images that the Zune software shows when you connect a Zune. This is how we've heard about nearly every new colour for the Zune, and history has repeated itself again when a Zuneboards member discovered these new colours. A blue Zune 120 would be awesome, and I'm surprised how much I like the white ones. What do you think of these colours? I think they should release that 16 GB Citron Zune!

Cases!

Posted by Adam Krebs in "Zune Accessories" @ 06:00 PM

http://www.zune.net/en-US/products/accessories/default.htm

GotZune has the drop on some new cases, recently posted to Zune.net's accessories section.

GotZune reports on 5 cases for each the larger and smaller-capacity players that come in a variety of colors. Though all but one in each category are from Incipio (the others are first-party Microsoft originals), they're all fairly decent-looking and will work well for their respective uses.

While not quite the torrent of cases heretoforth promised, it's nonetheless a good start. I imagine we'll be seeing more of these as the reviews come out and the aftermath of the Holiday season necessitates fancy outfits for everyone's fancy new toys.

Note to Incipio and Microsoft: I have an 80 that needs a new winter coat. Let's work something out.
