Flash Zunes Won't Have TV-Out
Posted by Adam Krebs in "Zune Talk" @ 08:35 PM
Contrary to prior reports, the 4 and 8 GB flash Zunes will not be featuring TV-out functionality. Unlike their bigger brothers, the Zune 30 and Zune 80, you'll have to keep all that nicely high-res encoded video to yourself. This makes sense at the same time that it doesn't. I'm not engineer, but I'd imagine any output functionality would've added more parts, and consequently more space needed to fit them in, not to mention more money.
Sure, I'd like all the new guys to feature TV-out, but I'm sure I'd only really use it with files that were encoded in high enough bitrates, if at all (and high bitrates equals higher storage space, which the Zune 4 and 8 don't have.) The Zune 80 will be supporting DVD-quality video (though it will still only play 320x240, the highest on-device screen resolution), and that's good enough for me.
Anyone feel otherwise?
